CAFÉ DISCOVERIES IN BRIGHTON

Whilst walking through Brighton Laines last Thursday my tummy had spotted lots of cafés it wanted to try. Brighton is full of independent cafés and shops which is such a treat from the usual big coffe chains.

First we walked along the beach to soak in the late afternoon sunshine. Despite the bitter cold January
weather the beach still has a certain charm. Nevertheless, my puff ball look prevailed in my new puffa coat!

Soon our bellies were calling and we were forced from the sea in search of food!

Our first stop was Pelicano Coffee and Tea House in Sydney street. It may be quite shallow but I'm so affected by aesthetics and interiors. I feel it really makes a difference to the experience. Pelicano was one of those places.

I chose a focaccia sandwich with pesto, peppers, tomato and mozzarella whilst George opted for a beef and mustard mayo one. However everything looked delicious and I could have chosen anything!

We sat upstairs over looking this delightful flower shop and people watched.

However our food soon arrived, freshly toasted, and we delved straight in.

George also ordered a caramel and chocolate shortbread which I helped myself to! It was one of the best I've ever had and was not as sweet and sickly as they usually are, which I personally preferred.

Our bellies weren't full enough... mine was dreaming of cake... So we strolled all of five to ten doors down to the Flour Pot Bakery.

Another beautiful place, I'm jealous I'm not the proud owner!

The choice of cake was superb but I stuck to my favourite carrot cake classic.

However they do breads and savoury bakes too!

George had a chocolate cake and I was very impressed that a lot of their bakes, including ours, were gluten free!

You have to be a real chocolate lover to opt for the chocolate cake. It was too rich for me... But George still wafted it down!

I can proudly say that my best home bake is probably my carrot cake. It always comes out for birthdays! However, this cake was so light and soft and yummy and delicious... It will now be the new bench mark for all future carrot cakes.

I easily could have eaten the whole cake if I'd been allowed!
